Kilwinning Lodge No. 565, G.R.C., A.F.& A.M., is located in Toronto
West District and comes under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario. There are 639 Lodges in 48 Districts, including one Research Lodge and one Millennium Lodge, listed in the register of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario. As at December 31, 1999, there were 64,988 Masons in the Province of Ontario.
Kilwinning Lodge was Instituted in March 1920 and Constituted in November 1920. The first and founding Worshipful Master of Kilwinning Lodge was R.W. Bro. Smith Shaw, who ruled the Lodge until the third Friday in December, 1921, when he was succeeded by V.W. Bro. Alex Hain.
Kilwinning Lodge has a rich history steeped in the true Scottish tradition. The Officers of the Lodge wear Highland Dress and every January the Lodge celebrates the historical birthday of that immortal poet and Freemason, Robert Burns. Guests travel from as far away as the United States just to taste a "wee bit o' the haggis".
